My Thrifting Finds Of The Day - 1/23/14

Hi Everyone!  It has been very cold and snowy here again, and I did not get to as many of my thrift shops and Estate sales as I has wanted to.  I can't wait until it is Spring!!!  But I did get to a few shops and a couple sales, and this is my thrifting haul for the week:

I just love this little vintage Valentine girl, she is so sweet with all the hearts on her dress and her little heart hat.  She will be a welcome addition to the Valentine collection!
Next I found 3 of these vintage diorama plastic Christmas ornaments.  I really like them, and I think a new collection is in the making  :)
A cute little ceramic miniature rooster pitcher, it is only about 2" tall!
Then I found a sock monkey that I could not leave behind.  I already have 2 of them, so I guess this makes it an "official" collection.
The next item I got at an Estate sale, and I am not sure of what it actually is.  It is about 6" wide, and the base of it is maybe marble? or alabaster? but it is quite heavy.  The Scotty dog sitting on top is made of solid metal.  I think it may have been the lid to a vintage decorative box.  I could not find a bottom part to it, but it is cute as is.  Do any of you have an idea as to what it actually is??
Then I found 3 tiny, very old dolls - they appear to be made of celluloid and are very fragile.  They are about 3" tall.
Also found at this sale was an adorable Kewpie doll.  Someone had dressed it in clothes that fit.
Next is a vintage pottery fish planter in pretty pastel colors.
2 old souvenir ashtrays - 1 is ceramic with a scene on it and a face of a clock, and a dimensional key.  The other one is metal and in the shape of California.
Another enamel flower pin, and some pretty vintage rhinestone jewelry to wear or use in my creations.
Then I found 2 sweet little bird figurines.  I can't seem to pass up the little birdies wherever I go!  :)
Some of the thrifts still have Christmas decorations out - yeah!  I found a set of big honkin' pink Shiny Brite ornaments!
I found 2 old souvenir pillow covers from the same sale that I bought the ashtrays from.  I love the pink one.
And the last items I will share with you today are 3 large containers filled with old gumball charms, there is a container filled with little cowboy hats, one with guns, and the other filled with guns in holsters.
I also made a new Valentine's Day theme background and header for the blog - hope you will enjoy it!  Thank you for visiting with me, and I wish you a wonderful week filled with thrifty treasures!

  4. Great finds once again! I collect those enamel flower pins too. They're so colorful! But I hardly ever find them anymore. You could be right about the dog being a lid. The dog is really nice-- great detail.

  7. Jackpot! You sure did well! Love the Valentine girl. I know that in the 1930's and 1940's scottie dogs were very popular on many things because President Franklin Roosevelt had a scotty named Fala. I'm not sure what you have though it looks like a lid but I bet it is from that period. Maggie

  17. First, I have to say your header and background are wonderful! And your finds are, too, I especially love the pins and the Valentines girl. I think you're right about the Scottie, a box lid perhaps. Or a really big paperweight! Thanks so much for sharing this at my History & Home Link Party this week.
